Holy Thursday
March 28, 2024
You are warmly invited to an evening of reflection and thanksgiving with friends in faith around the Peninsula that begins with conversations around a communal meal, includes a simple project to create care packs to benefit folks in our wider community, and concludes with classic traditions of Eucharist and foot washing. Come for part or all of the evening.
RSVP for the potluck meal or a component of our care packs here.
Holy Thursday Christian Tradition
The washing of the feet on Holy Thursday holds many layers of significance for Christians. We ritualize Christ’s action on the night before he died when he showed his disciples an example of how they are to love one another in imitation of his love for them.
This commandment to love one another as Christ has loved us is given to all.
Holy Thursday has also traditionally celebrated the gift of service in the Church. We celebrate the ministries of the clergy and laity on this holy day as we proceed to Good Friday, Holy Saturday, Easter Vigil and Easter Sunday.
