Maundy Thursday  April 6 | 7pm

Palm Sunday is the first day of Holy Week and commemorating Jesus Christ’s triumphal entry into Jerusalem. We begin with a blessing and a procession of palms and and conclude with a dramatic experience of the Passion of Jesus.

Share in the recollection of the Last Supper Jesus shared with the disciples.
This service includes an invitation to share in the foot washing and witness the stripping of the altar, after which all leave in silence.

A contemplative time to venerate (pray, worship, be present) the cross and the day of Jesus’ death.

We begin this service with kindling a fire, sharing in the lessons of the Old Testament and entering into the Easter celebration with the Gospel and sharing a celebratory Eucharist.

Bring your flowers for flowering the cross and celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus and the beginning of the Great Fifty Days of Easter.

Welcome to St. Paul’s!  We are so pleased that you are interested in our church and we invite you to visit our Sunday services so that we can meet you in person!

What you can expect at either of our services:

  • A printed worship bulletin that clearly guides you through the service (when to stand, sit, etc.).  You will get these as you enter the sanctuary.

  • A ten-minute sermon that helps us apply Jesus’ teachings to daily life

  • Warm and friendly people in a transcendent, but not “stuffy,” style of worship

  • Respect for your right to entertain doubt or unbelief. Many of our members are married to non-Christians – i.e., persons of a different faith or no faith.  All people are welcome to attend St. Paul’s, regardless of their faith - or lack of it.

  • Communion is offered for all who love God and seek Christ

  • Complimentary coffee and treats following each service

  • Some folks worry about what they “should” wear to church.  People at St. Paul’s dress in a variety of ways for church (“business casual” might be the most common) but there really are no “shoulds.”  Please come as you are!

Our 10am service:

  • Approximately 60-70 minutes in length

  • Meets in the main sanctuary (enter via front door near intersection of Occidental and El Camino Real)

  • Features glorious music (you might hear anything from Bobby McFerrin to Benjamin Britten to Bach). See the music section for a full description of our various choirs, Choir School and historic pipe organ.

  • A healing station (in the side chapel during communion) is available for those who would like special anointing and prayers for healing

  • For families with children you will have several options:

    • You may worship with your children in the pews

    • Praygrounds center children's experiences within worship. You can join your kids in this soft space for the service, or invite them to enjoy supervised activities with our childcare providers and reconnect with your children here, on your way to sharing in the communion portion of our communal worship.

      • These welcoming spaces are located in the right-side chapel within the church. Here you can sit with your children and experience a blend of activities that complement and explain the ongoing service.

Our 8am service:

  • Approximately 45 minutes in length

  • Meets in the right-side chapel within the sanctuary

  • Is a smaller, quieter, more contemplative service of about 15-20 people

  • Does not offer childcare, children’s programs, choir or organ music

  • Features the same readings, prayers and sermon as the 10 a.m. service

Practical Logistics:

  • We have a parking lot at the corner of Occidental Ave. and Chapin Ave.  There is also free street parking on Sundays.

  • There is a ramp for wheelchairs at the main door to the church

  • Bathrooms are located in the social hall (enter from Occidental Ave)

  • We are a short walk to Burlingame Avenue - affording you a variety of opportunities for brunch or the weekly Farmer’s Market after church

St. Paul's is located at 415 El Camino Real in Burlingame, California.
