Summary of Expectations for Search Committee members:

  • Confidentiality during and after the process

  • Time commitments including:

  • Attendance at Search Committee work sessions, meetings and discernment sessions

  • Use of individual time to evaluate applications

  • Participation in all first-round interviews via Zoom

  • Participation by most of the Committee’s members on 1-2 traveling trips to visit semifinalist applicants’ home church and community (depending on who the Committee’s semi-finalists are, this may include traveling by air for the weekend and/or local trips on a Sunday)

  • Discernment individually and with the Search Committee on which finalist candidates to recommend to the Vestry for its discernment and call after the Bishop’s review.

  • Comfortable in participating in a group process that leads to the Search Committee’s recommendation of 2-3 finalist candidates to the Vestry

  • Willingness to adhere to norms/protocols established by the Search Committee

  • Understanding of the Search Committee role which culminates in the recommendation of 2-3 finalist candidates to the Vestry, followed by the Vestry’s role in further discernment about the finalists including in-person interviews at St. Paul’s resulting in the Vestry’s recommendation to the and concluding with the Bishop in the final discernment before advising the Vestry on Bishop “calling” the finalist to become St. Paul’s seventh Rector.
