Reverend Julie Graham
A lifelong Episcopalian from Lubbock, Texas, Rev. Graham attended college in New Mexico, before moving to California, where she received her Master's of Divinity at Church School of the Pacific in Berkeley, CA . She was called by St. Paul’s to be Associate Rector for Youth and Families in 2007. She was later elevated to Associate Rector in August 2019.
Rev. Graham has previously served parishes in locations as diverse as Haight-Asbury, Oahu, San Ramon and Walnut Creek. She has also served as a Youth and Young Adult Coordinator for the Diocese of California. When she isn’t working, Julie enjoys reading and hiking, especially in our national parks. If she were not a priest, she might have been a history professor.
Director of Music, Dr. Susan Jane Matthews
Dr. Matthews has been Director of Music at St. Paul’s since 2005 where she serves as organist and director of the choirs, including founding director of the Choir School and the Evensong series (2007).
Susan grew up in Pennsylvania, graduated from Haverford College as a chemistry major, and attended two years of medical school during which time she found a home in the Episcopal church while searching for a place to practice organ. This began a journey to a completely different doctorate, to concertizing in amazing sacred places around the world, and to her vocation as a church musician in the Episcopal Church where music is an integral part of the liturgy.
