What's up in the Pray-Grounds
The Pray-Ground for Two to Fivish-year-olds: The Goals
We want our babies and toddlers to know church as a loving place with the excellent playtime and the care of our long time teachers over in the nursery. We also want our babies and toddlers to learn about worshipping, praying, singing and stories from the bible. It's designed for preschoolers to learn about their ancestors' rituals of talking to God and learning the stories about Jesus. Our guided participation curriculum is all about becoming familiar and ultimately owning these important rituals for spiritual growth.
Our long time teachers, Kristin Flor and Janet Laurie, bring their gifts to lead these little ones in an introduction to worshipping God. Janet does it by playing simple songs on the guitar for story time. While Kristen is good with arts and crafts and keeping little ones busy with toys.
If this is your toddler or preschooler's first time to leave the childcare, please know Kristin and Janet are "experts" at separation anxiety. Also, parents are welcome to stay and help get your young one used to this church time.
We know they are going to love the nursery with all its terrific toys.
Please feel free to attend the younger Pray-Ground with your child, and return home if needed. Staying for Holy Communion is not required!
The Pray-Ground for older children
We will have a special sermon fieldtrip to learn about Zaccheaus the Tax Collector and the power of being seen by God. (Yes, we’ll still have time to talk Halloween and yes, God will still knows its YOU even in a Halloween Costume!)
If its raining: our side chapel door will be open to enter the older kids Pray-Ground. Margherita Soule will be our Pray-Ground mentor to guide older children through the service.
Children are encouraged to help in the worship by:
Carrying the Banner
Ringing the Prayer Bell
Introducing the first lesson
Processing Bread and Wine (its the younger pray-grounders turn to sign up for this)
